Introduction to Phase II of the

Upper Midwest Freight Corridor Study 

Phase II is in the process of just starting and the final completion date is October 30, 2006. The main objective of Phase II is to: development a regional freight agenda, facilitating discussions of a regional approach to deploying commercial vehicle-related intelligent transportation systems, and maintain and improve the regional information system on freight. Phase I of the study has been completed and further details can be found under the Components link.

The study was funded from several sources. Six states in the region contributed to a pooled fund to sponsor the majority of the work. These states include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. In addition, the research centers contributed funds. The study is truly a cooperative effort across the region.
