Components - Capacity

The research team at the University of Toledo is working on several tasks that relate to the overall issue of capacity of the freight transportation system in our region. The overall goals of this area are to assess the status of infrastructure for highway, rail, seaport, airport, and intermodal facilities; and then to design and develop a database to store the data that results from this study.

1. Develop Database for Freight Transportation Facilities and Infrastructure
2. Spatially-Reference all Data and Link Attributes (GIS)
3. Modify Network Components in GIS Database
4. Assign Attributes to Network Links
5. Perform Capacity Analysis on Spatially-Referenced Data
6. Serve as Data Repository for Study: Secured FTP Site

Web based work for this part of the project, including data sources and maps, can be found at UT's home site for this project, http://midwestfreight.utoledo.edu/

The lead researchers in this area are Drs. Jiwan Gupta, Peter Lindquist, and Mark Vonderembse, with assistance from several graduate students at the University of Toledo.
